When ezgif is the better pick
- Turning a video into a GIF — editpot doesn't convert video.
- Animated WebP, APNG and AVIF, or squeezing file size with a dedicated GIF optimizer.
- Files larger than 50 MB — ezgif accepts up to 200 MB.
- Captions that change partway through the animation — ezgif's Add text tool sets a frame range for each caption.
- Reordering or duplicating frames — editpot's timeline deletes frames and sets delays, but doesn't reorder or duplicate them.
Doing what you did in ezgif
- Change the speed of every frame
- On ezgif you set a percentage or a delay in 1/100 of a second on the Speed page. Here, type a delay in milliseconds under the timeline with “Apply edits to all frames” ticked and every frame gets it at once. Untick it to change only the frames you selected.
- Drop frames
- ezgif's GIF maker lets you skip frames before it rebuilds the GIF. Here, Shift-click frames in the timeline and press “Delete selected frames”. Cut too many? Ctrl+Z brings them back.
- Put a caption or logo on every frame
- ezgif's Add text tool gives each caption a frame range. Here, a text or image layer sits above the frames and is drawn onto every frame when you save — until then you can still move it or change the wording.
- Stack edits without re-uploading
- ezgif runs one tool per page and passes the result along. Here, resize, crop and rotate apply to all frames at once, frame edits and layers stay in the same file with 20 steps of undo, and the GIF is encoded once, when you save.

- Is editpot free like ezgif?
- Yes. Core editing — resize, crop, transparency, text and GIF frames — is free with no watermark and no account.
- Can editpot make a GIF from a video?
- No. editpot edits images and existing GIFs. For video to GIF, ezgif is the better tool — you can bring the result into editpot afterwards.
- Where do my files go?
- By default they are processed inside your browser and not sent to an editpot server. ezgif's privacy policy says uploads are kept on its servers for up to an hour after last use.
- Will re-saving change my GIF?
- Saving re-encodes each frame to a 256-colour palette, as every GIF editor does, so colours can shift slightly. Make your edits in one session and save once.
- Can I set one delay for every frame at once?
- Yes. Type the delay under the timeline with “Apply edits to all frames” ticked. To slow down only part of the animation, untick it and select those frames first.
